This sandstone is a remarkably clean quartz arenite, as five analyzed samples exhibit a narrow range of 97.94 to 98.07 (weight percentage) of silicon dioxide determined by X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy. The corresponding mineralogy (weight percentage) associations are 95.67% quartz, 1.35% kaolinite, 2.39% feldspar, and 0.03% iron-rich components. BHG1 and BHG2 are cored from the same block, whereas BHG0 is core from another block in the same formation.
